About

ELLIANE BOULTON

Elliane Boulton is a sculptural artist who now lives and works in Canberra. Growing up on a small farm near Yanco NSW on the Murrumbidgee river. This is where she found a deep appreciation for the eucalyptus forests and the materials they can provide. Her sculptures are a way of paying homage to the land that raised her. The variation in her pieces is what makes her work unique, no two pieces are the same. In her practice, she uses found objects, such as bark or leaves and incorporates elements of mixed media such as weaving and watercolour painting. Recently she has stepped into the world of eco-printing, using native leaves to create pattern and silk to create form.

The Weaving aspect was learnt from her grandmother Pamela McDougall, with over 60 years as a weaver, her tutelage has been an inspiration in the creation of artworks. Elliane is mostly self taught with the guidance of parents and teachers. Whilst studying a Certificate IV and a Diploma in visual arts at CIT, her teachers provided a space for exploration, as a result she found her style and helped create her first body of work.
